With the January transfer window closed, many football fans would have switched their attention to matters on the pitch.
However, West Ham United supporters may be welcoming a new signing in the coming days in the form of Patrice Evra.
According to the Daily Mail, the former Manchester United left-back could join the East London outfit on a free transfer.
The Frenchman is believed to have visited the club’s training ground on Tuesday to discuss a possible deal.
Evra has been a free agent since November after his contract at Marseille was terminated due to an altercation with a fan.
The 36-year-old is serving a UEFA ban from all European competitions until June 2018 after he kicked a fan prior to a Europa League match on November 2.
Evra is already familiar with West Ham manager David Moyes having played under him for a year at Manchester United.
The left-back worked with the Scotsman for a season before ending his eight-year spell at Old Trafford in 2014.
The speculation has surprised many, with West Ham fans reacting differently on Twitter.
