Newcastle have confirmed manager Eddie Howe has returned to work at the training ground after been hospitalised recently with pneumonia.

Howe was taken into hospital and diagnosed with pneumonia after falling ill recently. He subsequently missed Newcastle's games against Aston Villa, Manchester United and Crystal Palace, with assistant Jason Tindall taking over in his absence. The 47-year-old has now been released from hospital and Newcastle have offered an update on his progress.

A club statement read: "Newcastle United are delighted to confirm that Eddie Howe has returned to his duties at the club’s Training Centre. Eddie had recently been hospitalised with pneumonia and has now returned to work after a period of recovery. We thank supporters for their warm wishes."

Howe will be at St James' Park on Saturday for Newcastle's next Premier League game against Ipswich, according to The Athletic. The manager has "has reported no ill effects after returning to the training pitch" and is ready to take charge of the Magpies once again.
