ESPN pundit Steve Nicol has claimed that Eden Hazard will not benefit from having Romelu Lukaku in the team at Chelsea.
The Everton forward has been widely tipped to return to Stamford Bridge after failing to sign a new contract at Goodison Park.
Lukaku first signed for the West London outfit in 2011 from Anderlecht, but a lack of first-team football resulted in him eventually leaving in 2014 to join Everton.
Since then, the Belgian has become a top striker in the Premier League, and he ended last season with a 25-goal haul.
Lukaku’s stoke has certainly risen over the years, but it is believed that the Toffees value him at a staggering figure.
Last month, a report in The Telegraph claimed that Everton will listen to offers of around £100m for the striker.
Nicol, though, believes that the 24-year-old is not worth a huge fee, and is concerned that the forward will struggle to link up with Eden Hazard.
The ex-Liverpool player told ESPN:
“I don’t see how this guy is going to be so good with his back to goal, 25 yards out, trying to play little one-twos with Hazard. We saw how great a connection Costa and Hazard had, I don’t see that with Lukaku. Listen, if they’re asking for a lot of money and Chelsea pay it, I’m not sure he lives up to the billing.”
