has reported that a final decision was made following a meeting this week between the club’s hierarchy and the player, marking the end of an eight-year stint at Old Trafford. Despite being a regular figure in the squad for several seasons, Lindelof has struggled for game time in recent years. The 2024–25 campaign has seen him make just five starts in the Premier League, due in large part to recurring injury problems and increased competition in the squad.

With Lindelof now available on a free transfer, clubs from both Spain and Italy have reportedly expressed strong interest in securing his services. While a final decision has not been made on his next destination, there is speculation that a reunion with his former club Benfica could be on the table.
