Tottenham have been linked with a number of players this month and it seems their pursuit of midfielders is showing no sign of slowing down despite Gedson Fernandes appearing to be close to confirming a switch from Benfica.
The Daily Mail report that the North London outfit are interested in Nice’s Wylan Cyprien, though Spurs could face a battle from Newcastle for his signature, with his value believed to be £20m.

Chasing yet another central player despite the arrivals of Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso in the summer is not a problem for some fans, however, with some keen on seeing him become the latest arrival.
The reason for their encouragement could be because the 24-year-old has an impressive 11 goal contributions from central midfield in 21 games this term.
Also, Cyprien may be able to provide a burst from midfield that Spurs lack when Harry Winks and Eric Dier play, as the pair have each contributed an average of 0.4 shots per league game, compared to the Frenchman’s 2.9. Meanwhile, he has also made 1.8 key passes per outing.
The big fat Tottenham quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Spurs?
One fan’s assessment that he is a poorer version on Tanguy Ndombele is a little harsh, therefore, as the former Lyon player still hasn’t got up to speed and his two goals and 0.7 key passes per game indicate that Cyprien could even be an improvement on him.
In the current market a £20m fee for a player who still has time to develop seems a good deal, too, and he would provide competition for places in midfield, as well as acting as a different attacking option from deep.
Some supporters believe the club should act on their interest because of the reported fee, with one calling on Daniel Levy to provide the necessary funds.
In other Spurs news, fans have been reacting to news that a player could soon be heading for the exit door.
